Welcome Letter Fall 2016 Important Information

Dear Titan Families,

 

Welcome to West Prep Academy, home of the Titan Scholars! We look forward to working with all of you as a partner to ensure the success of all scholars. We have spent most of the summer preparing for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year and we encourage you to visit our website regularly to learn more about the authentic learning experiences we are providing for our scholar’s education. As we near the beginning of the school year, please review the following important information and let’s make this a successful year.

 

2016 - 2017 Calendar & Important Dates:   

  • First day of school: September 8, 2016
  • Back to School/Parent’s Night: September 15, 2016
  • Academic Parent Teacher Team: October 25, 2016
  • Scholar Led Conferences- November 16-17, 2016
  • Academic Parent Teacher Team: March 14, 2017
  • Scholar Led Conferences- April 5-6, 2017
  • Academic Parent Teacher Team: May 31, 2017
  • Last day of school: June 28, 2017

Jupiter grades:

West Prep uses Jupiter Grades as the school’s online grade book and for communicating with families. Parents and scholars will be issued accounts and passwords after the school receives an updated “Blue Card.” Please fill out a new Blue Card when you come to pick up uniforms. Check the school website and Facebook for announcements regarding Jupiter grades accounts.

Uniforms:

West Prep Academy has a strict uniform policy to ensure our scholars attend school dressed in a professional manner. Our uniform policy will be strictly enforced throughout the school year. To support this policy, all students will receive:

 

2 T-shirts

2 Polos

In addition to the shirts, all new families and all 6th Grade families will be provided with:

1 Cardigan sweater

 

You may pick these up at school on:

August 30th, 2016:          9:00am- 3:00pm

August 31st, 2016:          9:00am- 3:00pm

Sept 8th, 2016:                8:00am- 3:00pm

Dress Code:

 

Tops:

Scholars must wear an official WEST PREP shirt with WPA name and logo given out in September or purchased online (T-Shirt or polo)

NO Hoodies or sweatshirts over uniform. West Prep Cardigans are available to wear when it is cold.

 

Bottoms:

Pants: Black, Blue, Gray, or Khaki DRESS Pants.  NO Cargo pants.

 

Skirts: Girls are allowed to wear skirts black, blue, or khaki, with leggings, and should be at least an arm’s length.

 

Shorts: Are only allowed on Fridays Black, Blue, Gray, or Khaki DRESS Pants.  NO Cargo shorts.

 

Jeans: Are only allowed on Friday.

 

Shoes:

No open toed, no flip flops, no high heels.

 

Cell Phone/Electronics/Locker Policy:

Cell phones and other electronics are allowed to be in the building but must be turned OFF and placed in a secure location (LOCKER) all day. In case of emergency parents can call the school. If electronic devices are seen or heard, the school will confiscate it. The first time it is taken, a parent must come to pick it up. The second time it will be held until June.  The school is not responsible for any lost or stolen electronic items. All scholars will be provided with a locker. Families must supply a combination lock to secure items.
